  1. The Peacock Inn was built in 1881 by Charles Peacock, using lumber from shipwrecks. The large upper verandas provided a spectacular view of the bay and ocean.

    The Inn was headquarters for the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club, as well as a terminus for a daily steam launch to and from Miami, across Biscayne Bay.
